In response to this article the kiddo and I have come up with a new system to get things done. I have to work and he's home a couple of days a week on his own, so I've been feeling like this whole thing might be impossible.
But we just decided to keep a notebook where I can leave him notes and he can get stuff done during the day and leave me notes about his progress. Then he doesn't have to remember - it's all there for him. His expectations are clear and concise and he can check off the list and feel complete.
I know it's not a huge thing, but it feels like a revelation.
Connor also worked through how to upgrade the game he wrote into having dialogue boxes - all on his own. He's programming in Python and it's awesome to watch his progress. Yay!
